What Does AI Mean for our Future?
THURSDAY, MAY 8 - program begins at 6:30 p.m.
Join us for this community program in partnership with Badger Talks and PBS Wisconsin. The opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI) have fueled imaginations among members of the media, business communities and the public: AI offers the chance to remove tedious tasks, speed creativity and analyze oceans of data in a matter of seconds! Many are also concerned with the challenges AI poses, especially to security and exploitation. This presentation will be recorded by PBS Wisconsin for later broadcast on its University Place series.
Patrick McDaniel, part of Badger Talks, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s campus-wide speaker’s bureau, will discuss what we (people, society and organizations) need to know about AI to leverage its benefits, while remaining secure from threats. This program will cover what AI is, how its inner workings are used in popular commercial models, what risks are associated with the technology, what information is tracked, and how AI can impact industry and society. McDaniel will also address what researchers and others are doing to ensure AI cybersecurity and what people should think about, including parents of teenagers, in their use of AI.
